Honestly, it really depends on the situation and on the mood I'm in.

If the source medium is a novel and not a manga I'd say I'll go with anime most of the times.
If the anime adaption of a manga is really well done and even improves it like for example Hunter x Hunter (2011) or Kimetsu no Yaiba then I go with anime as well.

But other than that I gotta say I prefer reading the manga. It's the original source and a lot of times anime can miss things that are in the manga, even if it's just small details. Or sometimes the anime gets dropped or the ending of it gets changed because the manga hasn't finished yet. Heck, some even change the plot without any reason. This gives another point to manga. Also the fact that I can read at my own pace.

So yeah, anime can be better but most of the times the manga is just superior.

Both Junji Ito's work and Mahoutsukai no Yome lost a lot of the magic they had in the gorgeous artwork of the manga when moved into anime form for me.
I haven't read Mahoutsukai no Yome yet and I loved the anime so I can't judge that one. But I definitely agree on Junji Ito! The anime adaption just didn't give me the same vibes the manga did. I can imagine art styles like that are hard to animate and they just work much better without colour.

the legendary series is BACK baby oh yeah

i have voted for manga - especially if i want to binge something, it's much quicker for me to read than watch. also, reading the manga allows you to see the author's "true" intentions for each scene and event. anime adaptations can sometimes cut out important moments and even unintentionally spoil certain reveals at times, so i consider the manga the most true version of events if that makes sense? that's not to say that anime adaptations don't add a lot of flavour to the source material, but they're very reliant on animators and creative directors really understanding and engaging with the source material in a lot of depth.

I'll go 50:50 on this one. There are times I do prefer manga. My main fear when a manga I like is going to get animated is: did they picked the right voice actors for the specific character. Plus, manga comes with limited to none censorship and I can fully enjoy it. Now, about the anime. While I do like the fact that there is sounds in general and colors, sometimes the studio doesn't care about their job. Example - Naruto's battle with Pain.

Do I even have to choose? It's obvious I'm a Manga freak

IDK why, but I'm more absorb or focus when I'm reading Manga and I get to understand more on what's happening/developing in the story. I'm a fan of anime too (who hasn't  ) it's been part of my life since my childhood days and it's the reason why I got into reading Manga. Kinda like Anime was an old drug that I used to like and Manga was the new drug that I'm into now (FYI I'm not into illegal drugs or anything, It's bad from the heart :admin: )!

Perks of being a Manga Reader:

1) You become more knowledgeable

2) You can enjoy it really anywhere, and usually doesn't take a long time to finish :aye:

3) You can visualize the action/fight scenes in advance through your "Manga Mind" :pikajoy:

4) You become the bad-ass, cool, incredible, sensational, remarkable, spectacular, stupendous, phenomenal, extraordinary isekai HERO that fights corrupt nobles, save the Kingdom and defeat the Demon Lord! But it was only just a DREAM (due to excessive reading) :rogerlul:

5) And lastly! You get to SPOIL the anime lovers :wavyyay: :troll:

I agree with that to some extent. You can read at your own pace and go back much easier to the confusing parts. But certain manga just get a bit confusing to me like Tokyo Ghoul for example. At some point I just wasn't sure what's going on anymore xD
