Twelve I read your review and yes! I mean... gotta love your way with words. You can, if you choose, read through my experiences with season 1... but unlike with Haikyū, that I recall, I would actually be yelling at the screen and pumping my fist as the players would come up to bat. Or fussing at Eijun when he did stupid things like talk to Mei when they first met. The emotional investment was huge. Oh wait, no, I was invested in Haikyū as well. There are scenes I would watch over and over again. But I cried in DnA, like early on. It’s rude—the emotional rollercoaster and the way they drew me into the story so well. Like I couldn’t stop. I wanna cosplay them all. I genuinely do not know if it’s because I knew baseball before I started the show or not but they do it really well. Like I didn’t know I was that into it but holy crap. Those boys are life. I love them all!

Awww I spent an hour or two on that post so it's nice to know you liked it :luvu: I will definitely go back to this thread to read the posts that won't spoil me. But with my pace now, I might finish the next 2 seasons fast so I think I'll reply to those by then. ;)

Tbh I was expecting to write more but I told myself to summarize my thoughts. I think we both feel the same way about the show. And like you, I also did not expect it to be this impactful. Haikyuu!! is close to my heart since I used to play volleyball. It was sorta my favorite because it shows my favorite sport. But with DnA...it's just really something else. It's not relying on fan service or any stupid scenes to be fun. It delivers cliché sports anime concepts in a refreshing way (like when *** lost to *** and the managers passed the thousand paper cranes to *** for good luck. I never saw the nationals representative beyond them being their school's pride and glory. But with DnA, they really highlighted the fact that this team will represent the whole region so they must do their best. For the sake of those who they defeated). Because of things like that, I just really got hooked. Same way as you. I think it's not because you know baseball (since I don't now much about it before this). This show is just well-written. The boys are indeed life. It's hard not to love them.

P.S. Who will you cosplay first? Please show us pics when you finally cosplay them! :kewl:

This is why I was posting as I went. Like you were watching with someone for your time... I forced Monster Trio to read my ramblings as I went through the show. It was just so much. Eventually I gave up on posting because it would’ve been spam :ohno: but yes... so many moments where my heart was broken starting from when Eijun first joins the team. I was bawling at the goodbye.

The show is well-written! I want to read the manga now but I need the animation. I’m scared of missing the action like the manga for Haikyū is amaze balls but nothing beats the motion of the sports. So in that sense, the anime isn’t ruined for me (plus it takes forever to come out). So I will start reading once I’ve watched a few more things methinks. I really want to find some DJs to read since I’m such a visual person and can’t wait to see all the creative ways the fujoshis have gone to work on this series :blush2:

As for the cosplay, I don’t know—I wanna be so many of them but it depends on my ability to do the hair and if I’m gonna genderbend them—I kinda want to... I might end up being someone from Yakushi just because I’ve got a black and white striped shirt already and Raichi is a babe. But I wanna be like all of them 😂

Hahaahahaha she's the only one who's done watching (aside from Nika?) so she has no choice 😜 I actually made my man watch with me so I didn't need to post after each episode. We discuss chunks of it as we go. Otherwise, I would have spammed the hell out of this thread too xD So many good moments! That goodbye with his friends was a big thing and also made me tear up >.<

I understand. Sports manga is really made better when it's adapted. Bonus points for them choosing good animation studios too! Depending on the ending of S3, I might start reading. But I also want S4 to come out fast!! :dancingblob:

Actually link me those DJs plz hahahahahahaa (although if I have to be honest, I was so engrossed with the games that I didn't actually activate my BL eyes here)

So my honey watched some with me and it’s baseball—the homoeroticism started from the very beginning like how could you not see it?! The whole Miyuki-Eijun partner speech with the blushing? The pitcher/catcher thing in general... oh gosh it only gets worse. Plus my honey adds extra homo erotic subtext to everything, bless them.

But yes, there were lots of emotions for sure... and I’m a multitasker. I could BL and be engrossed in the games. They made it easy for me.

Yeah the animation studios were great for sure. Like you said, they’ve done quality stuff that I’ve enjoyed a great deal. So content and quality were both above board for sure. I want season 4 but I doubt it’ll be anytime soon. They need a lot of content and the world is in shambles at the moment.

As for the cosplays, finding baseball clothing at a reasonable price is harder than you’d think! It’s not like I have anywhere to go.. I just wanna dress up like these guys cuz I love them. So it’s hard to justify the money.

OH MAN I WAS WRITING STH BUT IT'S ALL GONE NOW SIGGGGGHHHH, it seems that the reply you're writing doesn't get saved anymore when you go to the next page? riofriz well, I should actually put this in the bugs thread but I kinda don't wanna lose my train of thought rn
ANYWAYS

I'll be writing this while listening to opening 5/opening 2 of s2 of the show (Sora ga Aozora de Aru Tame Ni) which is generally a fan's favorite together with the one you posted, Hashire Mirai!
I was very, honestly, don't know how I can put it into words haha. But I was super excited to read your review Twelve! Also WeebyWitch please, I would be more than happy if you kept rambling in the thread, I might not reply immediately but i would without fail read each of those ramblings cos it's an amazing feeling :blob:
Just like you say, Daiya is hella loved by guys! I got introduced to it cos of some Gintama friends I made on twitter, and there's a whole ass group that kept pushing the daiya agenda while Act II was airing haha. But boy am I glad I randomly decided to start in the end. The manga had actually been on my plan to read list for ages cos I liked the art style but I just failed to ever actually start on it oof. MADHOUSE never fails to deliver, once I saw that they did it I was kinda more intrigued than I first was. No regrets for that at all.
I like the fact that compared to Haikyuu, rather than Oikawa, Mei really felt like an antagonist? Maybe cos he was so arrogant haha. Oh yeah also if you like him now, you'll definitely be liking him more in the future, he has quite some development and it made even me like him. He was kinda a meh character to me at first, didn't dislike, but didn't feel anything special for him either. But glad you like Sanada (and Raichi) that much as well~ I think they're defo my favorites out of the enemy teams.
Also yeah, the emotion/thrill is definitely well delivered. I cried at the end of season 1, like.. I did see it coming but yIKES my waterworks started working. More than that, I cried more at the end of season 2 tbh. But aaah! We don't talk about that! I didn't expect to feel emotional cos of this~ I haven't cried a lot while watching shows but aaaaaahhhh I was so invested with the characters.. :pika:
My writing for this is kinda all over the place cos I wanna cover all the points you mentioned haha sorry for that! OH CLOUD 9 CAME ON. This ending was song by the VAs for sawamura/furuya/haruicchi, so cute omg.
Yep I'm definitely rambling too much lmao
Eitherway, the end of s3 is definitely one that makes you wanna go on with the manga as sad as that sounds. At least it got a weekly release just like haikyuu, the art is good. But it surely feels different without animation/music :cooljoker: eitherway i caught up with the manga in a day LOL we sad bois now

I started it knowing that the pitcher/catcher thing will definitely distract me from the sports stuff but I'd say I just really enjoyed the games and didn't need to distract myself with the BL stuff to continue. To rephrase that, I guess what I'm saying is that the story captivated me. With some sports stuff, I rely on the BL hints sometimes to have fun. In DnA's case, it wasn't necessary. 😜

Trueeeee 🥺 Did you already start reading? Monster Trio has convinced me that the manga's art is good. I might not be able to wait for S4.

Aww that's true. Especially since it's not easy to find money during this pandemic. Do it whenever you feel like doing it and I'd just be happy to see the results. ☺

I think I just like weird guys 😂😂 But yes, yes. I started to like him when we knew more about how much he worked after making a bad pitch that cost them a game before in the nationals. I love that despite him working so hard and eventually improving, he still has lots of things about himself that he needs to work on (e.g. now in S2, he needs to get the team together and stop being so self-centered). I live for good character development and the constant struggle to become better persons.

I am not surprised at all that you did this. 😂😂 But lemme just say thank you for introducing Daiya to me. Without your Sanada drawing, I would've pushed the series back for god knows how long. I'm really happy I picked it up. 😍❤❤

Who's your favorite character btw? Is it really Miyuki? How about the second favorite?

like it does and it doesn’t. It’s a good stopping point, IMO. Pretty satisfying.

Did you start from the beginning or just where S3 left off? I mean I miss them and all but yeah the music—those OSTs are hype AF and I just yeah... I can’t not get into that show.

Oh it wasn’t necessary at all! It was just obvious at times and pretty cute and there’s some other things that are adorable that I just couldn’t unsee so I let them play out in the background. I mean, it’s no Try Knights for sure. It stands on its own without it but baseball just has its own tinges if it and some levels of hot guys romping around will always get eroticized/romanticized to an extent because I’m a lech.

So I found the manga on a site earlier today when I was in the loo. But it was Act II. I started the first chapter of it and wasn’t sure if I wanted to read from the beginning of Act II, the beginning of the series or from where season 3 ends... so I stopped and started working on my Raichi cosplay...

The good thing about being disabled is that the pandemic doesn’t impact my income at least. But yeah... such is life. I still was looking for baseball gear today. Though, I did the makeup anyways. I was gonna share the pics in the photo thread but didn’t wanna spoil you.

This is something that Haikyū and DnA both do really well which is get you vested in the opposition so that it’s a full experience and you’re more emotional about all the games.
