I will be blunt: this is probably a year of pent up anger over the B.S. from Oda getting worse. I think I could hold it back because it seemed like people weren't getting too caught up in it. However, if Oda's B.S. and sloppiness is making someone like Yuz completely misinterpret what's going on in key parts of the plot...Oda you are making a damn mess of your child.

Side tangent: Jawa doesn't really post any more so Yuz is the opinion/analysis I respect the most. If Oda's making such a mess that even a microanalyzer is missing basics of the basics...what in the world are you doing to make such a damn mess Oda. So if this wasn't clear enough, this is more of a F U Oda vent than anything else.

So I'll jump straight to it. In the most recent anime episode, Oden using his haoshoku is not even able to make a significant dent/crack in the Bari Bari no Mi's barrier. And this is with an old man using the fruit (nothing implies he has more than one douriki/is a superhuman in any means of physical capability). If Oden can cut through potentially Kaidou using defensive haoshoku coating, this means Barto now is the strongest in the world. No one can defeat him. Even whatever new Vegapunk technology driven weapon the Government has (what is making Kaidou and Big Mom fearful enough to ally together), cannot defeat Barto by himself.

If we run with the B.S., with Kaidou "not at Yonkou level", Oden's attack at the barrier can kill Kaidou. Oden is so strong, yet so stupid/gullible that he could have prevented all of the suffering by just cutting down Kaidou instead of going after Orochi.

Kaidou isn't the "strongest being in the world" that only gets scarred by the strongest offensive fruit ability (by Oda's own words). He gets scarred by a Yonkou exec that readily admits that Whitebeard is in a completely different tier of power level than him. And the other Yonkou and admirals that defeat Kaidou are so weak at the same time that they cannot scar Kaidou...

Just when the manga is making a clear turn for the better, the anime decides to reinforce the contradictions of what Yonkou and admirals are actually capable of doing. Using defensive busoushoku for over an hour is a piece of cake (Aokiji and Akainu fighting constantly for a week).

So forget Luffy saving the world, it's going to be Barto that saves the world. All Barto has to do is just put the Governments new weapon in a barrier so it destroys itself with its own attack (it is shown to be able to deflect attacks if the curvature prevents a straight on attack).

But at least to end on a positive note, at least Oda is putting in definite breadcrumbs of a return to the norm. Hopefully this is the last time I have to vent about the series getting unraveled and going to crap. Once Oden's flashback ends in the anime, there shouldn't be anything that can derail the plot further. I'll definitely take 2 years of nightmares to get things back to where even foundational things are not contradicted.

Or hopefully even better, maybe Oda's so busy someone in the anime team just went rogue. I'll take back the diss to Oda since it would not be him if this is the case. Here's to hoping things stay connected and believable.

Back to the blind Oda faith (until the next B.S. of course).

I'm a simple man. Seiryu starts a thread with "I will be blunt", I will read.

This is quite the compliment coming from you Sei, thank you. The respect and appreciation for each other's opinions is definitely mutual. Incidentally this is the thread I took a look at right after replying to you in mine and I think you'll like the gift I left you there. Well, don't get sad over it just yet. Not to sound arrogant but it's kind of a fresh perspective on the base of certain topicsso it could possibly rekindle your view on the connectivity and believability. And similarly, if there's really BS going on, I'm not one to close my eyes to it and be unwilling to see it. And your opinion is one I regard highly so you're more than welcome to share it and it could possibly change my view on things.

Pity about Jawa btw, I thought he was active in discussions and tagged him to get his opinion since we're in the hot phase where we're still establishing stuff. Well, I still hope he reads it, it's pretty interesting.

Hahaahaha...and the funny thing is that it still kinda ends up a "text wall" anyway. Hopefully it was a fun read!

I'm glad the main point of this thread is getting across. Things are busy of all aspects of life, so I'll definitely get to the main discussion...eventually. Depressing to see how small the margin of error for literal perfection is and to see the chain reaction of Frog-Carrot B.S. actually manifest...but thankfully things are looking like Oda is going to stick with the route that keeps connectivity/believability at its highest levels.

I'm not sure who else liked this but @Judgement and @Yuuzume if there's an interest in discussing why the connectivity is almost guaranteed to go down, I've been purposefully keeping this out of the chapter discussions since my read is that there is "seiryu exhaustion" there.

Since there is no other purpose to the thread, that's the only legitimate discussion tangent that directly ties that I can see.

I wouldn't be adverse to it but I believe the logical order of things would be to tie up the loose end that is our other discussion first (I'll get to doing so after this) since it will be closely related to this discussion in a big way. And as I will say in the other discussion too, it's also the biggest "minefield" of the series since Oda could blow the whole thing up even with one wrong step.

A couple of nitpicks for you (even though this thread is mainly for rant purposes I might as well)

Technically speaking, the actual strength of the barrier shouldn’t be affected by the physical strength of the user. Can a more physically competent fighter make better use of the ability? Probably yes (that’s why we see Barto do his Bari Bari pistol to beat Gladius, for example), but the barrier will be indestructible regardless of who the Fruit’s user is.

Luckily, this alone would not be enough to defeat the World Government. There’s also Admirals and stuff.

The thing that’s fun about “hax” Devil Fruit abilities is they open up these kinds of discussions about BS ways to win fights. Take Sugar’s Devil Fruit, for example. Theoretically she just needs to touch Kaido and turn him into a toy to defeat him. Yes, technically Barto could just put up a barrier and wait for his opponent to punch themselves out and win every fight, but luckily for us, Oda wouldn’t subject us to that.
