Synopsis: With no soccer accomplishments to speak of during the entirety of Sumire Suou's junior high school years, the young wing gets an odd offer. Suou's main rival, Midori Soshizaki, invites her to join up on the same team in high school, with a promise that she'll never let Suou "play alone." It's an earnest offer, but the question is whether Suou will take her up on it. Thus the curtain opens on a story that collects an enormous cast of individual soccer-playing personalities!

So... it’s starting off well. Comedy, a good basis for their hijinx and the sports is solid. We’ve got a nice variety of characters to choose from here and looks like some good rivals to boot. There’s even going to be a highly vested celebrity coach! Bring it on.

@NinjaSushi another sports one for you. @Marco Polo it has begun!

Wow, she really is the epitome of the show’s message about the image and state or future of women’s soccer. She had no idea who Nomi was. But now she’s starting to see the light and get won over by the merits of it. I wonder how much of this, if any will manifest in some form of comeback in the next segment of the game.

Ohhh the second half was great! Mon got fired up so much and played great! She knocked some sense into Su and even managed to catch the attention of the coaches and inspire the opposition’s prodigy. So well done! Guess the champs are screwed in terms of playing in games now. Sucks to be them but I’m happy for our team. What’s the fallout from this going to be exactly, I wonder?

Duuuude. They really had a helluva aftermath to that game. It was brutal. So many reminders. Just when they were getting fired up (what even was with those who couldn’t cook?!), the coach of the guy’s team had to go hard with the hope crushing. PS Nomi has no aesthetic sense at all.

They really did some scheming to try and make things better for themselves. I don’t dislike that. Pro activity is the way to go. It sends a good message to the viewers about problem solving versus despairing. I’m thinking they might start practicing with a high school team instead of a boys team maybe? But either way, they need to do something about Elizabeth’s useless self. Them trying to get the others to help them was obvious as soon as I saw them but dang lol.

The former teammate (Kurotani?) was a real pain in the butt. I’m glad that she got told off. Envy is one thing but playing rough and dissing others just because they’re talented and you’re not is ridiculous. The game went really well. Non-chan got everyone fired up. Those methods to persuade the boys’ coach though lol. I was wondering when their original coach/advisor would step in and when he did, it was beautiful! Nice solution found for everyone.

Watched the first four episodes of this. I really like the characters and I like that there’s a sports series for women’s football (it needs the attention) but I might read it instead because I’m not a huge fan of the animation? But that might be because I’m using Your Lie in April as a benchmark for how it “should” look (it’s the same mangaka).

Very enjoyable though, I’d recommend to anyone who’s into sports anime!

episode 7
She got so excited that she was in crap condition for the game... I mean. It’s not unheard of but that’s some next level stuff right there. At least her excuse is it’s her first official game unlike someone else I know who was just excited to have made it so far... but they were both noobs of sorts, moving on. I wanna know what the coach’s backstory is and when he’ll thaw out completely. I’m guessing he has background with not liking his tactics or vice versa based on his attitude and the way he manipulates the boys’ coach. But we shall see. The whole post-fusbal rivalry thing was a nice moment. The game is coming up and I like Nomi’s strategy of taking Non off the bench because it forces the rest of the team to get stronger. This should work out really well. I love it.

Elizabeth is so annoying. Non injured herself but still played. Coach did really well with her so that she made an actual impression that game and didn’t go too far. Whereas Nomi realized she wasn’t being a very good coach at all. Kouhai was great. It was just what I wanted. We learned the history and now I think there will be breakthroughs both in the team’s defensive play and bonding with the coach. I’m excited. Plus the next game will be against the team from the very beginning. Good stuff!
