So where them One Piece gamers at?

A place for general One Piece discussions, like "who's your favourite character?", or "why is Zoro the perfect vice captain?"

Where is the improvements in haki Rayleigh was talking about?
The most recent manga chapter finally has our first glimpse of mastered haki FYI. I am the most skeptical person about it here, but it is definitely a great start since Oda is finally getting to stuff related to the end of the series.

I think that can be good somehow.
Because as i told before many times and got hated for this when i play One Piece games i can see Luffy and his fighting style and how wasted he is in the anime.
I have to give this credit to Oda for creating a character made of rubber who can hit enemies with punches and kicks multiple times in seconds but then i see the outcomes of those skirmishes and well...
Hancock is also extremely underrated and desrespected in the story.
Law should be 20 times stronger than he actually is.
I love Luffy's fighting style but his development is 0 so it screws everything.
4th gears are not impressive to me,it's size over substance.
Rule of combat *heavy muscle allways beat the fat*
I played with others like Crocodile or Sabo, even Shanks or WB and i can't say they are superior to Luffy.
If censorship wasn't such a cancer in Toei i could see Luffy fill all his enemies with holes with his gatling gun, they would bleed like pigs too instead of crap like Giant Thor Axe or Elephant Gun or Grizzly Magnum and something like that,he could hit Jack with that and he wouldn't feel a breeze!
I still think nobody will ever understand the levels of haki of characters because the most important fights are full of interferences and the outcome is not conclusive.
Will this ever change?
When will the fights of One Piece will be shown as the definition of real fights like some enemy trying to kill or beat the shit out of the other?
That's the million dollar or should i say the million yen question. :shinono:

Yes, for sure! For any story/plot creator, the beginning and the ending are the easy parts to create. How well everything in between fits together is what makes or breaks the story. Thankfully, it looks like Oda is correctly giving us step by step progressions to the "end of series Luffy".

Boa is shown in the most recent movie to be the strongest character on all of the allies based on the damage she does compared to everyone else. It is only "pseudo-canon", but it shows how the combination of crazy levels of physical capabilities and haki is all it takes to be among the best of the best in the entire world (Garp, Shanks, and potentially even Roger).

Unfortunately, Law gets the short end even now that his best ability of Gamma Knife is only used against people that can just heal so fast that the ability seems weaker than what it does against anyone else (kills literally anyone else that doesn't have superhuman regeneration/healing).

We are slowly getting answers, which is the norm for Oda. As long as Oda is willing to stick to not taking away defensive haki (he is taking this away from the Yonkou right now), we do get complete explanations on everything. However, because it has to fit the plot, it is going to be slower than pretty much all the fans want. Having the entire journey being fun by Luffy's standards means that there has to be an "impossible feat" to overcome in each major arc.

I join your side if Oda decides to take the easy way out and astronomically weaken the Yonkou (take away all defensive haki). However, Oda is sticking to the complete and thorough explanation that just takes a very long time.

Extremely slow.
And the problem about the fights is also the same,no conclusion.
You can't just hit Kaido without getting him KO or kill him and he runs,it doesn't work like that.
A battle with Kaido can only end with a huge KO or death to Kaido,Big Mom too and if they don't get beaten or killed they will chase Luffy forever.
He keeps the Admirals away from the SHs because if Akainu or Kizaru attacked them right now they would be all captured or killed.
Even if everyone of them hit Kaido or Big Mom combined with Luffy they wouldn't cause a scratch.
Luffy doesn't get the full fight and he is not the problem solver like he should.
And i finished Pirate Warriors 3 and i know it wasn't exactly accurate at Dressrosa and it was developed before the end of the arc,yet i think both endings were bad in the game and the anime.
Pirate Warriors 4 shows more of the same but with less quality in my opinion.
If the anime has the same ending at Wano as i saw in the game the end of the anime will be a disaster.
There is no system in this story showing differences between the level of haki of characters.
Basically people say Yonkos are strong and they are strong.
Until now i saw Zoro cut through Pica because his armament haki was superior.
Luffy uses gears to improve his power because he already has speed but when the time limit runs out game over.
This allways made me think Oda is saving some power up to show later but when will be that later?
I also think Oda has nothing more to give Luffy as power up so i think he will just spam his poor gears and have his allies hitting all at once for backup just like i saw in the game.
I have to say this system of power ups from Oda is nonsense and extremely slow to the point of some people getting tired of watching bad performance in fights from the main character and say i'm done.
Simple conclusion:
Luffy didn't beat Mingo alone.
Luffy didn't beat Cracker alone.
Luffy didn't beat Katakuri alone.
Luffy never beat Big Mom.
Luffy never beat Kaido.
For someone who spams everytime i will be pirate king he must do the impossible because lots of other people will be in his way but he can't beat anyone by his own, just some ant playing around in a dragon's den.
The things i saw about Oda's way to develop stories i think i would just say this to him:
Before you start a story make sure to know exactly what to do with your main character because you are completely lost.
Law is the most powerfull of the Supernovas with a beast DF and his haki should be much better.
My theory about armament haki is simple:
All the kings and queens have the most powerfull armament haki,Luffy,WB,Hancock,Kaido,Big Mom,Rayleigh,Roger,Dragon...
Hancock has a beast DF combined with extreme atheticism and strong haki.
She would beat Cracker in a fight but not Katakuri or Mingo and her DF still needs to be awake.
One of the few characters who can beat Maggellan with one hit.
Luffy is more than just a balloon like Oda wants but this is his choice,he wants to humilliate him and i will never accept that.

Luffy's plot armor and fight track believeability is a relatively interesting topic, which I'd like to talk about but not here as this thread is about something else.

I've only played a couple of OP mobile / MMORPG games which mainly revolve around character collection and mini events. They were fun while they lasted, close to typical gacha based games that mostly depends on a franchise's lore and popularity but that's fun in its own right. Other than that, I've only played OP Grand Adventure I believe. However, I did so years after they came out and I had already played games that offered new better features and mechanics or had built upon and improved existing ones. So I enjoyed them more for the lore and the excitement of seeing some of my favorite characters go on a whole new adventure.

Incidentally, there is a Steam sale going on right now which includes many OP games. I might mention more details on a more suitable thread.

Actually, Oda had and is still executing a great plan to negate the need to kill Kaidou or Big Mom. This isn't much of a spoiler so I feel comfortable posting this without a spoiler tag (*more of a warning for someone, unlikely though, that is reading that doesn't want even minor things spoiled), but everyone in the 100 Beast and Big Mom crews have their own individual agendas. They only stick together because the fear and overwhelming power of the Yonkou make life easier/give the means to achieve some sort of goal. Once the captain is defeated, they all go their separate ways. As long as Luffy is truly Yonkou level, even slight assistance from a crew member lets him defeat Kaidou or Big Mom if they attack again.

It is on Oda to make the plot to such an extent that the "problem is solved". Showing how easy it is to tag team Kaidou and or Big Mom in the future answers this problem and also shows the development of the crew that they can overcome greater and greater problems.

The game stories have to be non-canon...so I definitely want to leave that alone. I'm used to playing games with terrible stories, so I'm biased to think that's the norm.

You and I definitely agree on the "boring adventure" aspect that has become the norm recently (Luffy needing help for his fights). Kaidou is the strongest person in the world right now, so Luffy needing help only makes sense. However, the combination of Luffy getting his awakening with mastered haki was predictable ever since we saw Doffy use his awakening and we saw Rayleigh used what initially appeared to be mastered haki with Keimi's explosive collar.

So I 100% have to disagree with this. The series was only supposed to be 5 years total (it was supposed to end close to 20 years ago). The majority of fans are craving more and more content, so the "slow pacing" is unavoidable. With characters like the Supernovas not being a part of the original plan, fans get parts they potentially like the most because of the massive expansion. I'm willing to bet the majority of people have a different view on all of the "slow" arcs once we get the ending of Wano Kuni and it is pointed out that pretty much everything since 3D2Y has been just one MASSIVE super arc to set up the defeat of the first Yonkou.

I think we are closer on the bias of haki and haoshoku than the opinions of most other fans in the world. I too think there are levels to haoshoku and that there should be power ups for those with stronger haoshoku (the bigger their dreams/ambitions).

Oda is starting to clear things up/get things back on track. It isn't pure canon, but Boa is the strongest person shown fighting in the most recent movie (I naturally exclude the B.S. ending of Luffy defeating someone he is too weak to win over, but that's the plot armor of shounen movies). Boa is definitely super underrated, so I'm looking forward to seeing her fight seriously.

Luffy's plot armor and side help and his fights are the worst thing about him,it disappointed me so much i have only a few good things to say about the series, the humor at least was good.
It is sad but it is what it is.
As for the game itself i think it is inferior to Pirate Warriors 3.
There is no more Kizuna attacks wich i don't appreciate, there is no point on having partners fighting with you if you are fighting alone.
Characters could pass level 50 to 100 in 3,now they only get to 18 or 19.
I could see differences in power when i upgraded characters in 3,now i can barely see it.
Some maps are a complete mess,i could get lost there like Zoro easily and then i never get S rank because even if i get lots of KOs i take a long time.
Character's combos are pretty bad compared to 3 and 3 of their special moves are all shit, only one can do some damage.
Be able to use hero power for more time can be good but with enemies like Big Mom,Katakuri,Jack,Kaido in New World Treasure Map it doesn't really help.
In my Xbox the only good special move in each character is RB+Y and even that does little damage not to mention each character had 2 huge special attacks before, now they have only one and the weakest of the 2.
Sabo was awesome in Pirate Warriors 3,his combos were amazing, now he has useless combos and he can only use his dragon claw attacks after hitting 7 or 8 light attacks, when he grabbed enemies with his hand before he did area of effect damage, now he doesn't even stuns them with the same move.
Haki attacks are not effective anymore, when enemies are in logia form or flying while they have active armor not even special attacks can do serious damage.
Pirate Warriors 4 is another case of more eyes than belly.
Namco Bandai or Konami (i don't know who sells and who designs) had a lot of work trying to design 3 maps of upgrades for each character but they forgot to apply the specific changes related to those upgrades.
So even when characters can do damage to objects in maps, not only their enemies the power they used to have became weak.
Crocodile is the best character for me since he is one of the few who can actually heal while fighting and finding healing items is such a pain in some maps.
The last fight in Wano against Kaido is absolutely horrible.
The only character who seems to improve in this game is Hancock, she is a godess in this game.
Eternal love for Boa Hancock!!! :pfft:

@Leandro Tbh, I didn't even reach the midpoint of the game, much less finish it, so I don't really have any personal input for it as far as the mechanics, features or story goes. And I haven't even played Pirate Warrior or any of the more recent ones so I have even less input to offer about those unfortunately. But for me, any One Piece game would be worth trying out at the very least, just for the sake of the existing lore.

My experience had these conclusions.
Pirate Warriors 3>Pirate Warriors 4 for many reasons
If you have time check for yourself and then we can share our thoughts.

Honestly, there was recently a sale on Steam and many OP games including the ones you've mentioned were super cheap (it's still ongoing actually if I'm not mistaken) but I bought a couple of other games instead so I don't think I'll be trying them out anytime soon. I don't want to "state" anything about them cause I haven't actually tried them, but I'm a bit apprehensive about games based on existing series in general. I feel that many of them rely on the existing popularity of the series and simply follow the recipe of 1) make the characters look cool for the sake of lore, 2) make their techniques from the series as flashy as possible, 3) simply try to implement high level graphics. Sure it feels cool to watch some of my favorite chars perform their skills in game...for the first 5-10 minutes. If the whole game is cliche after that and has nothing more to offer, I wouldn't really be too interested in buying it. Well, having said that, I think I might try at least one to give it the chance it deserves if an opportunity in the form of a significant discount comes up again. Good to hear an opinion / review on them before I did so though, it's something to keep in mind if such a time does come in the future.
