Dr. Stone Chapter 177: Medusa Mechanism
Moderator: seiryu
Woah...so this is a nice return to the most interesting parts of the series! With Senku sacrificing the ultimate trump card, it makes sense that they retrieve it and try to figure out as much as possible. I think we are getting a preview of how reviving key people will go. Eventually the masses will be revived, but until then, I don't think we have any "failures" (unless they are purposefully included to be a short term antagonists).
It was nice to have a "normal adult" (the CEO). She might never make an appearance again, but I guess eventually the corrupt adults will come into play.
But...the biggest key is that Why-man can likely make ALL the Medusa weapons he wants. The elite of the elite watch-guy is probably the perfect scientific base to explain the manga magic of Medusa. The biggest detail for me was that every part was made from a 3D printer. It is a strange material because Why-man is limited to whatever is on the moon/collectable from asteroids. With his level of science, man-making diamonds is a piece of cake, so he's got infinite parts and infinite energy sources...this just got REALLY interesting to me.
The mystery discussion thread has some major fuel to work with now, but I'm guessing this is the "lingering energy" that petrifies the new guy? They have the revival recipe, so it doesn't matter that he's re-petrified. If Senku isn't the one testing the command, then that's a major plot twist (but I'm assuming it's Senku that activates it).

Interesting chapter...
So I’m guessing the watch guy is a permanent addition to the gang? He’s definitely an asset for the construction/crafting team, especially until we get specialist engineers/builders etc. I hope he gets de-petrified (again) soon.
Yeah this was a really interesting bit of information. I’m guessing that means they’ve been around since the 21st century? As in, the same Medusa’s that were made thousands of years ago are the ones still in play

Yup, it looks like that at least for now, teenagers and young adults will be the core of the teams. We now have a specialist for small/precision work (vs. Kaseki and the American engineer are more macro-scale precision work).Marco Polo wrote: ↑Wed Dec 09, 2020 10:14 pmSo I’m guessing the watch guy is a permanent addition to the gang? Presumably, the original Medusa is at least a similar design (there is just some sort of twist: much larger Medusa, some sort of amplification method, Medusa connected "in series" [like circuitry in series], etc.). We should get this answer relatively soon, and this makes things a lot more interesting on what the manga team chooses to do.Marco Polo wrote: ↑Wed Dec 09, 2020 10:14 pmYeah this was a really interesting bit of information. This watchmaker is adorable even if he is a stereotype. Wait, the central mechanism is a Diamond? Shouldn’t they have one of those from the Soyuz time capsule? Oh my. He got himself petrified. Whose voice was that that popped out at the end there? I’m so confused.
Mobile posting, please excuse typos and errors

Gonna skip the questions since the next chapter makes it clear. But the diamond aspect is very important for sure! It would have to be refined and cut to the exact shape/size to fit though. Or at least that's what the scientific side of me says. It won't do anything/potentially very little with rough diamonds.WeebyWitch wrote: ↑Sun Jan 03, 2021 6:46 pmThis watchmaker is adorable even if he is a stereotype. There should be the one diamond from the diamond ring that was used to cut the recording. It might be too small though. Eventually, Senku's going to go diamond mining to me.
