I basically opened this thread for ranting/hyping whatever you wanna do about your currently-reading book. I'm thinking fiction, nonfiction, textbook whatever. So basically any book. Once the next semester at uni starts, I'll probably be ranting about the stupid textbooks I'd have to read xD But until then I'll probably dump my thoughts on Percy Jackson books here.

Rant away~

I'm reading The Scarlet Letter by Nathaniel Hawthorne. I just started it a few days ago and so far, it's very interesting. The way the author describes each feeling and detail is so compelling. I did have a hard time reading the first few chapters because the wording confused me but I've gotten used to it now I guess.

:ohno2: My reading list has been growing so much but I almost didn't read at all last year so I gotta step up my game this year. ᕙ(⇀‸↼‶)ᕗ ...though too bad the libraries are still closed :d I have to actually buy books now.

This part reminded me of my experience of reading The Starless Sea by Erin Morgenstern. The writing style was a little vague and stayed like that till the end. It was to set up an atmosphere of mysteriousness, surely, but I was just confused xD

A friend of mine has the whole Percy Jackson series, so every time I go over there, I've been reading some of it.

Rant update!!

I'm reading a mystery book right now (it's in Bangla, my native language). There are quite a few gems among the older thriller books but this isn't one of them. The characters feel flat and the writer is just stretching the mood thin. The MC isn't a professional detective; he just wants to find out the truth about the murder of someone he was close to. But here and there, the dialogues seem so irrelevant that it makes me wonder what the author is trying to make the characters do.
For example, a friend calls the main character about something she found out about the deceased person. And the MC goes on talking about his old memories about this person that has nothing to do with the event at hand. And of course there are unnecessary hints at romance.

I am 2/3rd into the book. I hope things get better by the end :/

Turns out that the book I posted about before had a reason for the MC's inconsistency. However, that still didn't patch up several gaping plotholes and I decided not to waste my time on badly written mystery novels.

Now I'm starting Boyfriend Material by Alexis Hill. Hearing A LOT about this. (perks of following Mackenzie Lee on Instagram). So taking a quick break between PJO and HoO to get some lightread (I think it's a lightread).
