Oh crap. I didn’t realize this came out. It didn’t release on Sunday and then I got caught up in my art. So... Kaido got distracted by a flashback then the scabbards used the Ryou Haki on him, huh? Ain’t that something? Looks like seiryu was right in the anime discussion about it being critical to Kaido’s defeat but I still don’t think it’s going to be Luffy taking him down solo as he clearly just got attacked by the scabbards and Luffy said it’s not his fight just yet which shows that it’s about someone else and a team battle. Then... shit got real— Admiral Ryokugyu weren't you saying Yamato wouldn’t want anything to do with Kaido’s death earlier? They was the one trying to get Luffy to finish him off and telling Ulti to let him die. Guess it’s a thing after all lol. And whoa—Luffy’s face when Linlin says she came all the way just to kill him. At least Nami still can manipulate Zeus no matter what. Kaido talking mad trash about Luffy while saying he’s had his eye on him the whole time—because he was messing up his operation or for another reason? Luffy’s here to whoop everyone’s butt huh? Well alright then—let’s do this!! Marco and Perospero together makes perfect sense—the latter said he was done with the alliance the second he saw Marco so why wouldn’t they both kick Kaido’s goons’ butts on the way in? Mink sulong fight fest and we get to see the forms of the leaders?!—hell’s to the yeah. Count me right in.

Will that happen or will the trauma of their past make them more complex?

I'm seeing the current action as "necessary drama". Kaidou himself is confirming that they should not be able to harm him (potentially even with haki) if not for his emotional trauma from Oden. For the Luffy part, I think the biggest part is Luffy maturing to realize they deserve a chance to fight Kaidou on their own, even if they all die (won't happen due to plot armor but this is their level of resolve though which matches the use of "su-na-chi"). The real answers on how Kaidou gets taken down is if level 2 haki pierces Big Mom's "iron balloon" while she is activating defensive busoushoku. I'm personally hoping for more "necessary drama" that it can piece the iron balloon but cannot overcome the equivalent of defensive level 2 haki. Some sort of distraction will allow Luffy to leave and something like Perospero showing up, forces Big Mom to not pursue him (since she knows Kaidou can still defeat him).> And whoa—Luffy’s face when Linlin says she came all the way just to kill him. Big Mom's word choice is the main part of his reaction. I'm still not sure how I would translate it, but something like "I'm gonna slap you silly...until you DIE!" seems like an accurate translation for a balance of literal/implied effect. > because he was messing up his operation or for another reason? Kaidou's main dream initially is to destroy the world (he seems to hate it for some reason and wants to die). SMILE was his way to have the strongest crew in the world.
