> Yamato telling the Beast Pirates he’s disowned her father, and he’s going to become Oden now. How does one become Oden, exactly?
The two main options for me are the "freedom" path similar to Luffy, or just the "adventure" theme of the entire series. I guess it could be a combination of both, but we don't know what drives Yamato yet. She's been just an empty vessel trying to adapt to her crappy situation and clinging to this currently vague dream.>
Maybe she hid it somehow?
She's always "hiding" it in that it never shows through her clothes, so I guess the Homies have a good excuse.>
If anything, he only made it burn brighter.
> Luffy’s here to win the war. We could have guessed as much but it’s good to hear him say it. There’s a lot of people standing in his way right now, and this is the biggest test to his Pirate King credentials yet.
It wouldn't be Luffy if he wasn't overly confident facing some uphill battle right?>
> Wait, maybe not. Are Marco and Perospero working together? What does this mean for the rest of the Big Mom Pirates? At the very least, this is a definite indicator as to why Perospero doesn’t hold a Sweet Commander title despite being the first son and one of their strongest fighters. He’s not entirely subservient to his Captain.
I'm willing to bet Perospero is a great support fighter. He doesn't have much physical capabilities (his defensive busoushoku is weak since his candy wall and busoushoku still didn't stop his arm from getting blown off). He's going to be good against weak underlings, but is best to support against a powerhouse. This is why he isn't a Sweet Commander.>
> SULONG MINKS SULONG MINKS. Can’t believe we’re being left on a cliffhanger like this for break week, man
Oda maybe purposefully didn't show many Minks among the other groups, when they were always show in every panel of the allies. At first I thought it would only be Inuarashi and Nekomamushi, but them having this plan based on the full moon (of having all of them go after Kaidou) does fit.
I'm most curious to see the "transformation" and style design changes. I'm hoping everyone has a different theme since Oda excels at drawing animals. I would kinda be disappointed if everyone has the red-eye trait and just extra fluffy-ness.>
- Kaidou does have a weakness, which means he will probably get defeated in the end.
- Marco and Perospero seem to be working together, which makes me wonder... What sort of agreement did they have?
- Can't wait to see Cat in Sulong form!!
The problem is the fast recovery...Kaidou may completely heal from all of these wounds by the time Luffy gets to him.
We know that the entirety of the Charlotte kids are against the alliance, so it makes sense that Perospero wants to take down as many Kaidou underlings as possible. Big Mom rules by fear, so Perospero becomes an enemy as soon as Big Mom sees him and yells at him.
And hopefully a whole bunch of other Minks too!>
Is it me, or is Kiku looking like one of the strongest Scabbards?? Crushing Kanjuro confidently, then easily piercing kaidou’s hand. Just an observation. But, I guess if I had to pick, it would be Neko... that damn cat is powerful!
This definitely contradicts her somewhat struggling weaklings earlier. I guess she is entering "battle mode" with the full armor (kinda like Usopp getting serious as Sogeking). Izo, Inuarashi, Nekomamushi, and Denjirou are for sure the one's implied to be the strongest in the group. >
Strange to not see King, Queen, and Jack this chapter, but only since they were so close to the action.
The strong fighters (Izo and Inuarashi for sure from what I remember) are fighting against them. I think Inuarashi was shown somewhere in this chapter, so I guess he engaged and was able to push his opponent back enough to join in. But yes, all three of them not just jumping up seems like an illogical response. But then again...Kaidou is sobered up, so they know not to get mixed in and get attacked by him.>
!! Is there another headless warrior in Hyogoro’s panel??
The head is behind the person next to Hyou-jiji (going purely off of memory here).>
Or maybe an off screen counter attack?
Kinemon was injured off screen. I think this was shown prior to attacking Kaidou too.>
So, that battle should be amazing to see and Luffy’s endurance shouldn’t be a problem if he can use Ryouu instead of gear 4.
Luffy needs to combine Gear Fourth with level two haki to fight a Yonkou. He's able to have somewhat comparable strength because of the "gigantification" from Gear Fourth. I wasn't going to say this, but this is why the displayed injuries to Kaidou are insignificant because there isn't enough "power" behind it. Yes, it goes through his "scales", but it's still probably more of a prick than a slice or even a deep gash.>
And overly underestimating Luffy might just be the cause to his downfall, who knows.
That's most people in the series though! Definitely more hoops to jump through for Luffy this time though.>
@seiryu I don't see any problem with Kaido getting distracted when he was reminded of Oden. Oden plays a big role, not some small fry. Him getting distracted by the memory of Oden just shows how much impact Oden had left. Most likely because most people are weaker than him and Kaido sees himself as one of the mightiest beings, and Oden was someone he did not expect. And I believe that if Oden wasn't distracted during the fight, he could've fought longer and inflicted more damages on Kaido.
If we only look at the Kaidou vs. Oden chapter, yes, I would agree. However, throughout all of the flashbacks Oden is still equivalent to a current "Yonkou exec" level of power (being easily brushed off by both Roger and Whitebeard, Oden himself acknowledging Whitebeard is on a completely different tier from him, etc.). Kaidou already has his awakening in the flashback. So just like Shanks already being at a Yonkou level of power back when he meets Luffy, a Yonkou level fighter struggling and or getting damaged from someone astronomically weaker than them is the contradiction.
If level two haki is such a huge power up, this doesn't match the "basic" description because Kaidou should be successfully executed. Yes, weakenening Kaidou's defensive busoushoku is the most logical means of getting to a victory. It's rubbing salt on the wound to have Kaidou say his strongest being in the world title since this is based on mastered defensive busoushoku. Being injured by a "basic" technique contradicts being the strongest in the world. That's the problem since the necessary small drama is implying and potentially purposefully astronomically and completely weakening Kaidou's defense. If Big Mom's "iron balloon" is completely negated by level 2 haki, then we get confirmation that this "basic" technique is more of a "master" level technique. And goes in line with the overall trend of offensive haki >>>>>> defensive haki. >
Who knows, remember Blackbeard talking to Moria about Wano war, and Moria still holds a huge grudge against Kaido. Maybe BB pirates will appear in order to inflict damage to all sides, just like in Marineford.
And maybe this time, Shanks will come in order to protect Luffy and his allies, who will be very extinguished after fighting two yonkos, just like he stopped Marineford.
Another theory of mine would be Garp interfering into this war, as we saw Drake reporting to SWORD, and we also saw CP-0 in the shadows.
This war is really gonna make Marineford as a small fry
Man, if all of this goes down, the series doesn't need five more years to finish. It's gonna be done after Wano Kuni pretty much! 100% agree there has to be multiple twists though.>
If Kaidou or Big Mom use their conqueror's haki, and the clouds come, will they block out the moon and block or cancel the Sulong transformation? What do you guys think about this?
Hmmm...I know Big Mom's anger created a storm that was separate from Zeus (Zeus and Prometheus were able to further increase the size/strength of it in a later panel). Shanks/Whitebeard parted the non-stormy clouds, so I don't recall any other instance of haoshoku creating clouds.
As for the main question...yes. They need the moonlight to enter their eyes, which is why they gouged out Pekoms' eyes. Ah, damn it...we had Pekoms confirm the white and extra fluffy pattern. So yes, bad news that Big Mom could easily counter the power-up.
