I wonder how strong his “excellently drawn” minions are?
It doesn't matter if Kiku defeated him...they can't be stronger than Kanjurou so they weren't much of a challenge either.>
Yamato/Luffy interactions are interesting too - even though they haven’t known each other long it seems like there’s a rapport between them? Also, it looks like Luffy’s mastered Level 2 Armament Haki based on how confident he is that he can remove Yamato’s cuffs. Yamato (still not sure if she wants to be referred to as a “he” or a “she”) has all but asked Luffy to join his crew. The real question is, does she have her own dream or does she just want to follow Oden’s footsteps? I think that will be the difference between her joining and staying on Wano.
Man, so much to think about with Yamato for sure. Luffy being confident is his norm (Pirate King). The dream is to open up Wano Kuni. It isn't that much of a stretch to assume that once that happens, she's going to want to see the world and have her own adventure. I'm using she for now. Nothing definitive so far.
Whether the operation fails or succeeds, both need to be taken out in this arc.
Going to disagree on this point. There still needs planning and execution of multiple steps to go about executing the plan to get all the Ancient Weapons. She just needs to be taken out before she takes Shirahoshi (almost has to be the closest).>
Yamato being nominated as shogun actually fits as well? Since Oden’s true love was Wano, having his spiritual successor at the helm makes sense.
Yes, but hard to imagine Yamato not respecting Hiyori and Momo just because of their bloodline though. Yamato will be the figurehead until the end of the arc.>
But why would he draw Kiku crying if he's keeping Kanjuro alive ? Those 2 panels definitely symbolize death in my opinion.
Your answer for why Luffy doesn't kill people applies to all allies. Kiku is the softie of the group and didn't want to believe Kanjurou even in the midst of his announcement. Deaths will always be plot altering. Kanjurou hasn't "paid" for his dastardly deeds yet (Orochi is definitely a new spin, but by the original death of a dream >>> physical death, then Orochi's moment of realizing he was just a pawn and will not get to live his life of luxury is the karma). Kanjurou wants death to escape so the whole cliche of living to "pay for your sins" is going to apply here.>
Easily one of the worst translations I've ever read.
Did you not read the first one after Jaimini's and MS stopped? We were spoiled with excellent quality speed translations. Welcome to the reality of being a fan. Speed scans are going to come with flaws now that Japan is cracking down on people leaking manga/anime. GoldenVenus too. There's a pattern though. This is a double translation (they didn't change the Italian typesetting (I think that's what it is called). It's from an Italian(?) raw. The Japanese raws can read smoothly since it isn't going through double translation.
Japan's probably cracking down when big stuff comes up, which is why someone in the international distribution has to leak the raws. I know something similar happened with a Korean raw being the only available raw (Italian has come up multiple times).
Orochi isn't dead and you're foolish if you think he is.
The plot necessitates Orochi dying too. Orochi is 100% dead, and I'd bet on it.>
-"And since you are Ace's little" I wish I didn't know how to misconstrue this translation mistake.
-Wow, Kaido's a shitty father.
-DAMN HE JUST KILLED OROCHI (not that I disapprove).
-And now Luffy is going to Leeroy Jenkins into the place like he always does.
One bad thing about the faster pacing is that Oda is skipping over stuff for the anime to fill in. The two main options are Luffy has additional conversations with Yamato (he told Yamato his relationship with Ace and probably left out Ace dying since she isn't sad). Or Yamato was able to get some news through Kaidou (much less likely to me since Marineford would be the news and she would know Ace is dead).
Yup, I'm glad we don't have to deal with Orochi's petty crap anymore.
100% excited for the action! Yamato is going to do just as much (if not a little more).>
YAMATO FOR STRAW HAT PLEASE ODA, DO IT!!!!!
She can't be a crew nakama, but 100% she's going to be a long-term nakama (the Ace connection alone is enough for this).>
Good chapter, and yes Oda-sama, give me that war that you said would make Marineford look cute. Also, I'm not sure where Luffy got the confidence that he could take Yamato's shackles off. Was he being his usual self or can he actually do it? I mean we still haven't seen what sort of thing he can do after the training he had before. (the thing he did with the tree?) I might need to go back to that chapter.
The real action is still going to be at the end of the arc, but it's progressing VERY quickly by Oda standards. I doubt mastery since Luffy struggled so much during training. I thought Luffy's train of thought was "Oh, I'll beat Kaidou and have the keys to take them off!">
Orochi, hmm. I'm actually glad Kaido did that. This better be a real death. Also, not surprising that Kaido and BM are going after the ancient weapons, it's close to the 'going against WG/Mary Geoise' theory, considering they want a freaking world war. Should I be worried about our Robin-senpai now?
For Robin, no. They have Pudding. If Pudding cannot read anything with her third eye, then they will go after Robin. As for Orochi, the plot progression requires Orochi dead. PLUS Kaidou's theme of strong zoans match this. He wants it for his crew. Yamato doesn't appear to be a fruit user, so I kinda think it's meant for her...
Man...the Government side is being completely overlooked. Vegapunk has created something to exceed the Pacifista and it is going so well they went through with abolishing the Shichibukai system. Big Mom's intel is the best in the world, so if she feels like she needs the Ancient Weapons...****...this is looking bad for Luffy. This alone could be huge discussions.
I guess so but man it wouldn't take but one pass by someone who speaks English to clean up the dialogue a little.
I understand them cracking down on things but outside of Japan how else are we supposed to get the chapters at or around the same time? If they had a US company selling a physical magazine weekly I'd subscribe in a heartbeat.
Regarding Orochi, I believe he will die but this scene would be cutting (pun somewhat intended) against the grain. It's far from typical for Oda to so graphically and suddenly kill a character.
Thematically it's an odd choice too considering it would make more sense for a scabbard to give Orochi his comeuppance. Maybe this is a moment where Oda subverts expectations but I don't know if I believe it yet. I too would be welling to bet... wanna bet some vc cash lol.
I do wonder if any of Orochi's former men will stand against Kaido? Is Kaido trying to ally himself with all Pirates against the World Government? Interesting he seems to even care about the Shichibukai being abolished.
