There will be some kind of surprise related to One Piece in celebration of the 23rd Anniversary of the manga. More info with the release of Chapter 985 next week. Something other than color spread and cover? Hopefully this is an in-chapter surprise! Some sort of One Piece related announcement might be possible too I guess. My bias: I'm hoping for the chapter to be full of plot progressions. Yamato has a grand plan. Nami's group enters the main hall, we get to see who the shadowy figure that was watching Robin and Jinbei, and the chapter ends with the execution of Momo just about to go down! Great to have you back since the people that followed the Twitter announcements were few, and there's always juicy stuff coming up so thanks for sharing!

Saw this on twitter, totally forgot about it haha. Some were saying that they might announce the full casts for One Piece live action, but I don't know.

Considering this is only a "surprise" for a percentage of fans (or at least meaningful to a large extent), I'm hoping it turns up to be something bigger. I'd even settle for a confirmation that Oda is overseeing the next movie and some teasers on the next movie.

In past years, the surprises have been very manga-oriented - we had Shokugeki no Sanji in 2018, and we had BOICHI re-draw the Mihawk vs. Zoro chapter last year. I guess we'll see something similar this year as well? Though a live-action announcement could also be the one. By the way, when was the last popularity poll?

Damn...it has been forever since the last popularity poll. Those get announced with the ballot info included on the WSJ page (it gets a whole page ad for most manga). I honestly forgot the scale of the previous specials so I’m going to have to lower my expectations...

UPDATE: The " big announcement " will be unveiled on July 22nd. ( best thing to do is keep expectations low )

One Piece twitter mentioned something about 'special news' for the anniversary surprise. Looks like a lot of people are expecting to hear something about the live action.
