A Question for Manga Readers

Don't worry, no manga spoilers here. Promise. The question is this: Does your reading the manga affect the way you consume the One Piece anime? And by this I mean, do you only tune in for the anime when you know a specific manga scene you want to watch is going to be adapted? I suppose I could ask this about anime and manga in general, but I think the question is more pertinent to One Piece since it releases weekly, whereas most other anime adaptations tend to run seasonally. Oh, and the whole pacing issue.

Not for me, no. The only time that my anime watching was impacted was when I went back to rewatch the WCI arc and this wasn’t up to date on Wano but didn’t care because I was reading it and had already passed that point. Then again, I started with the anime so... it was my original point of reference.

for majority of anime, not just OP, I don't tend to like watching the anime when I've already read the manga. The tension is lost. (but somehow I have no problem reading manga for anime I already watched XD) However, there are exceptions. I recently re-read all of OP from chapter 1 and I would watch the anime when I was eating to keep my hands free. It made me realize that the anime has it's charms and WCI arc was animated so well. The case for others might be different. And let's be a bit on the practical...side, when compared to other manga adapted anime... OP Anime isn't that good... Yeah, main reason being- Releasing every weekend. Can't blame them. So, when ever I feel like this scene from the manga will look great in anime... I tend to lower my hopes. But the case for Zoro-Senpai's scenes it's different. Also can't ignore the fact that WCI and Wano improved a lot.

Not really, at least not for me. Even after reading the manga I still want to watch the anime because I like to see the scenes in action. Also, the voice acting. I might already know what's going to happen, but seeing it moving, in colors, with amazing voice acting, is really great. So I read and also watch.

Judgement

I used to be anime-only. Then I took an arrow to the kn- okay I won't When I caught up with the anime, I started reading the manga, because I wanted to know what would happen later on. The manga turned out to be amazing imo, and now I've been catching reading the manga as well (from scratch, although I'm up to date with the current chapters). So I fell in love with the anime first. Right now, when I read certain scenes in the manga, I already have ideas about which music they would use in those scenes and I usually can't wait for them to be realised! A recent one: Luffy vs Kaido was animated pretty epically, and I was looking forward to that so much! So if anything, the manga hypes me up for the anime. Pacing and some animations are the only issues in the anime for me, and I think One Pace solves the pacing issue quite a bit.

Personally, I don't tune in only for specific scenes, I watch every episode (maybe not the day it comes out, but still). Although, something I would like to point out, is that I might not be as emotionally invested sometimes as I would be if I had not read the manga, since there are no shocking revelations or something similar. I only started reading the manga around the first appearance of Gear 4th in the Luffy vs Doffy fight, so the anime was my point of reference as well. Although it might be just me turning into an apathetic robot, since it's been a while since One Piece gave me goosebumps :
