I don't think his reply counts as an official one so if you could edit yours with your thoughts on the song I posted as well as your suggested song, that'd be great! :
My bad my bad, here’s my review:

OK so I hadn’t heard the original but I’m familiar(ish) with the Offspring’s sound from songs like Pretty Fly or The Kids Aren’t Alright from my teen angst days. My first impression is that there’s a lot of re-imagining done here to suit the vocalists’ skill sets (belting/scream vocals), but without hearing the original I can’t tell you much more than that. It’s very standard heavy rock.
So, naturally I had a listen to part of the original, and as suspected they did do a lot of re-arranging. That makes it quite interesting to compare the two since they’re very different - the original is a lot bouncier and optimistic whereas the cover has a much angrier, angstier tone to it. The most distinctive difference between the two is in the “you’re gonna go far, kid” message. The Offspring’s version feels a lot more hopeful and uplifting, as if they’re excited to see this kid’s future, whereas this cover feels more like it’s sending a kid out to beat up his high school bully. I dont favour one version over the other per se, I just think it’s really interesting that there’s such a big difference in interpretation.
My feelings on it are the same as they are for the majority of heavy rock songs (it’s fine without being particularly innovative), but then I think that’s more an issue with the genre being in the same place it was ten years ago.
Anyway yeah those are my thoughts. I’ll re-post the song I posted before:
