Synopsis:
The crown of England has been hotly contested throughout history, and in the Middle Ages, a series of great civil wars became known as the War of the Roses. Claiming a right to the throne, the Duke of York seeks to unseat King Henry VI and his heir in order to become king himself.

On a dark day filled with many ill omens, the Duke gains a son: Richard Plantagenet, third of his name. Neither male nor female, but instead possessing characteristics of both sexes, Richard III is immediately reviled by his mother. Her hatred defines his childhood, leading to a deep disgust toward his own body and an adverse reaction to being called a demon.

Richard grows up troubled by visions of England's former foe, Joan of Arc, who taunts that he will bring ruin to all who know him. He believes that he can attain salvation by helping his father achieve his destiny of becoming the king. However, cursed by the expectations of both his mother and Joan, will Richard's actions instead drag his family down into darkness?

I started watching it tonight and after only a few minutes, I knew that whatever this anime becomes, I'll watch it till the end because the visuals are just SO DAMM GORGEOUS. Even if my brain doesn't understand the twisted, thorny plot, my eyes will feast on the art.

As far as I understood, Richard is a transgender person born to a noble family a few centuries ago? His own mother thinks he is an abomination. What's sadder is that many transgender people still receive the same treatment even now…

The episodes felt very, very fast. So many things were happening and it felt as if I was watching a movie rather than episodes. Each character has their quirks and we can understand their personalities quite well even in their brief and fast-paced appearances. Mangaka-san did a pretty good job, I must say. I suppose the extremely fast pace is connected to the story itself and I can't really comment on whether this is good or bad, at least not now.

But I gotta say, the Lancaster family takes the cake for being weird. Henry, the king, is a softie and creepy. He sees one boy in the wild and dreams of being free(?) like that? Henry's son, another creep, tries to rescue(?) Richard after he became interested in Richard just because he is a 'girl'? And of course Margaret. Ohmygawd. She can hold a throne but what a sadist. The forced marriage must have done a number on her already screwed personality… The son is more normal compared to these parents.

I felt the saddest when daddy Richard … well, um… met his fate. Baby Richard is totally mentally screwed.

Since negatibuhige a started this thread I couldn’t not start the Anime. From what I can gather, I have to say that if I hear one more character utter the phrase Father in the next 20 minutes, I will not be able to unhear it. It’s been done to death in this show.

I think that this show might want to do a little bit too much a little bit too soon. We’ve seen a lot in those 20 minutes. They’ve shown us the war, the premise, the trauma, the battle, the conclusion and even the second conclusion. Like and that in 20 minutes. It’s ridiculous.

Richard, he’s our main character, but I am not sure what is making him a Demon Child. They did not specify it. Apparently, he’s not male or female. Making him the child of a demon. I wonder how they are going to spin this, but I am not sure about this show yet, I have to be honest about that. Probably also because the animation drops in quality throughout the episode.

Yet another roller coaster episode. Focus on both events and psychological aspects probably makes it seem so rushed. If they spread out the same bit of story over a longer span of episodes, maybe it would have been better?

I think the only person close to happiness here is Henry :v now he's after his "true lpve" /o\

Another one after "lpve" is our new king. He is letting the power get to his head quite easily. Elizabeth is gonna take advantage of that. Margaret and Elizabeth - two very twisted, strong women who are wrecking havoc in the plot.

I really feel like checking out the manga to see what is actually going on. Is it rushed like the anime or is it just JC Staff who messed it up? Gonzo is usually the studio that makes anime based on retold stories like this. Hmm….

So….ex-King Henry is now looking for Richard? …whyy… like….. he has a son Richard's age….
Richard's elder brother is already abusing his position as king and he's gonna pay for it oh boy.

The show's pace is still all over the place. I don't think that's gonna change…

The way season break ended was fantastic. This is not your typical Shoujou. Shakespeare made anime is subarashi. Richard is the best and they’re so beautiful. Catesby and Buckingham especially phew. Best part is I don’t remember the original so it’s fresh and new to me again. I can enjoy it all over.

It’s getting soo dark. Bless it. Buckingham and Catesby’s rivalry is the best. I don’t like that witch. And oof Elizabeth is wretched. But they’ve all got their motives, I suppose. I do feel terribly for poor George, idiot that he was. This is going to get bloodier and bloodier before tis done.
