Haha...the biggest penguin is scared of just seeing Smoker. Tashigi not wanting to get hit by the cardboard sword and waving a white flag is a little funny/cute.
Woah...King and I guess all Lunarians can magically absorb damage as part of their race driven abilities. Context implies King can turn this into fire. Shishi sonson is Zoro's best one-sword technique and doesn't have many three-sword techniques better than it (maybe two or three). We already knew all the moon residents/races were wiped out as part of the Void Century.
Similarly, we already had confirmation of the Shimotsuki connection to East Blue, but it is definitely nice to finally get to see Kozaburo. But Zoro definitely could not have Wado Ichimonji fall off Onigashima.
Ah, that makes sense on how Zoro gets two actual swords for his last duel with Kuina. Oda didn't have to make Kozaburo's skill deteriorate astronomically, all he needed was for him to make basic/low grade swords and especially with Zoro at most using them until the start of the series. Kozaburo was strong enough (at the time) to not get his haki energy drained by Enma, but his lack of training for both fighting and sword forging is why he deteriorates (vs. someone like Garp or Rayleigh). It does fit to "blame" the weak, but there are other blacksmiths to make name blades so it could just be Kozaburo's style that has this extra curse aspect.
It isn't all the time, but Oda changes/forgot almost how to draw young Zoro. Unless the assistants are taking on more responsibilities, only one of the faces (the happy face of getting free swords) has the exact same facial features. Most definitely have Oda's "style" of artwork though.
Oh duh...even the owner of the sword shop came from Wano Kuni.
Oh give me a f'ing break. So not Oden had massive levels of haki energy? Or maybe not since we don't see him fight for prolonged periods (so we have the Luffy phenomenon of power ups from going 100% offense). Either way, we already have direct contradictions of samurai STRONGER than Oden still not scratching Kaidou.
I probably have a very unique take on these flashbacks (episode 1000 was full of them). It was almost purely negative for me. Being reminded on how good things used to be only highlights the crap being put out now and how things are getting worse. Zoro and Robin are the only ones that had legitimate power ups (we can include Jinbei since he only displays what he was always capable of). Everyone else either didn't have a climax fight or had a B.S. win. How in the world did we get to a place where an abundance of enemies still led to crew nakama not having a climax 1v1 fight...even as a Zoro fan...I don't think the short term positives come close to outweighing all the bad.
Also lies on the oldest friend. Oda is getting desperate to tug at people's heartstrings superficially rather than with literary perfection (forcing things rather than letting it happen naturally). It isn't a "lie" if Zoro uses a specific word (Japanese has different classifications of friend so at least a few options exist). The translation would not be this straight forward though. Johnny and Yosaku are friends with Zoro for muuuuuuuuuuch longer by context. If we are going by years to age, even Kuina is an older relationship than Luffy.
