Usopp lying about his Haki is both hilarious and yet more foreshadowing that there could be a Conqueror within, lol So as far as the battle situation goes: Usopp, Nami, Franky and Jinbe are currently helping with the Beast Pirates, along with Law and Kidd’s crew. Brook is protecting Robin, and Chopper is doctoring on the event floor. Zoro and Sanji are still mid-battle, and we know where Luffy is. I think it’s kinda cool that they’re keeping the Straw Hats whose fights have finished alive and active, since the war is still ongoing. It definitely helps push them up the power rankings a bit as far as durability goes. Maybe they’ll be involved if Big Mom’s executives make it up? Jinbe vs. Smoothie would be an interesting fight, and with the help of the remaining Scabbards and allied crews, I’m sure the rest of the crew can help with the other execs. Yamato’s backstory is fun to see, too. Him/her/them having Haoshoku is probably expected given that they’re Kaido’s biological offspring, and is definitely setting them up as Oden’s spiritual successor (as opposed to Momo who is his biological successor). I’m very interested to hear more about Kaido’s connection to Wano and what makes him so insistent on having this country as his base, because it seems to correlate very heavily with his treatment of Yamato. I do think there’s more to their parent/child relationship purely because of how similar their fighting styles are, so hopefully we get to see more. No break again, so we’ll probably have one after 1025? It’s been amazing to have 4 weeks in a row with chapters after the slowed down schedules over the past year due to the Olympics/COVID. Hopefully Oda isn’t pushing himself too hard…

Opening with some good comedic relief seems much needed. But I wonder if there is someone giving orders on Kaidou's side. The smart strategy is to free up King and or Queen so that Luffy and Yamato can be easily taken out (just win all fights with numbers). Or it's just the fire. OK, what in the world Oda. Why does someone in Kid's crew have a similar visualization of what happens when haoushoku coating is used...Yes there is a difference with a projectile aspect...BUT THAT'S A FUTHER POWER UP. Wait...so Kaidou was nice and previously holding back during forced training of Yamato? Previously, Kaidou would not hold back so all training was life or death for Yamato. WOAH...this is the youngest confirmation of someone using haoushoku (Yamato looks younger than Doffy). I'm curious for the raw, but there's an English tatoo on one of the Beast Pirate's arm on the bottom panel. So now we get confirmation of three samurai that are stronger than Oden (Oden wasn't introduced as "great master swordsman"). Speaking of which, the one on the right definitely has similar facial features as Denjiro. Especially with the excessively round face on the priest-based guy on the left, I don't think we have anyone that is his relative in the present time. The closest is the priest that does come up quite a bit...but off the top of my head, I think their noses are different. All three of them have really pointed noses. Definitely perfect that things went the exact opposite of what Kaidou was expecting. Plus, we have a bit of the Luffy effect with Yamato being immediately liked by them, even without saying a word. Also, Oda is very blatant with the visualization of haki imbued with the blade to cut what looks like kairouseki chains. Speaking of Ushimaru, I wonder if there is more to the "disgraced samurai" than letting Tsukiyaki/Oden get killed. I definitely like the one-liner that the chapter title comes from. But we get to see what a 40ish year old Zoro will look like. Hahahaha...the priest guy has a musubi face! Techinically the Japanese terminology would be onigiri face (yes, this is the play on words for Zoro's "Demon slice/cut"). The most interesting word choice (purposefully pointing out how selective Oda is with every chapter) is Kaidou at the end with "no easy answers". His previously implied response would be something along the lines of the mighty get to make the answer. This directly ties to the strange sympathy for Momo and implied father issues on Kaidou's side. So speaking of which, the first ever triple cover spread for volumes 99-101 will be contradicted by the climax of the arc coming in volume 102 (extremely unlikely to be volume 103). Based on this chapter, looks like volume 101 will end next chapter with Luffy successfully joining in to save Yamato from being defeated. At least we will get some sort of explanation for Kaidou, but with the rest of the fights having to be resolved first, the Kaidou flashback might have to be pretty short too. Hopefully we get an answer on Kaidou's dream and why he hates the world.

I'd be shocked if Oda didn't dedicate a full chapter to it, or several halves of chapters. He gave Doflamingo a full chapter, and Big Mom got two so Kaido should at least get one.

It's nice to see little Yamato, she's so cute. And she said she's Oden before she even read his journal, talk about devotion. So I guess the Shimotsuki man was Ushimaru and he went to die to save Yamato from starvation. His striking resemblance to Zoro is still bothering me though. One possible scenario is that Ushimaru is Zoro's father as speculated by a big chunk of the fanbase. So maybe he sensed the imminent danger that Wano was in and sent infant Zoro and his mom to East Blue, where Shimotsuki Kozaburo had gone to. Don't forget that Koushirou and Kuina are also Shimotsukis, so maybe Zoro is actually related to them. I don't know though. If the resemblance with Ushimaru and Ryuma wasn't there, I wouldn't think Zoro is a Shimotsuki, not to mention his Roronoa surname. We'll see, I suppose. I'm also very curious as for Kaido's reasons for staying in Wano and wanting to destroy everything that reminds of Oden. Maybe the horned race (Oni maybe?) were an ancient enemy of Kozuki, we'll see.

The literal translation is a bit weird: "You can't go around in the world only answering one question at a time". I would probably translate it something like: "You won't be able to make it anywhere in this world if you worry about little/petty questions". Yup, so off the top of my head the list includes Kaidou's "real" dream, why he wants to destroy the world, the potential daddy issues/having some sympathy for Momo, and for me the gaining of his legendary zoan from Big Mom. I'm biased to think there is more than just the fruit ability with Big Mom talking about owing a dept. Of course some if not all the main points could overlap.
