Dr. Suika arc?!!!! Sign me up!
Luckily it shouldn’t take too long to find some revival fluid, but also I’d be excited to see her have a little solo arc that ages her up a little. Teenage/adult Suika who’s been hardened by surviving on her own could be a VERY big addition to the team once everyone’s un-petrified.
Also - was it ever clarified why the petri-beam doesn’t work on animals?
Suika is good as exploring and not getting lost, but she has zero idea which direction Chelsea and Luna went. Because she doesn't have Senku, Francois, Tsukasa, or even Ukyou or Hyouga levels of analysis, she is relying upon just checking everyone's belongings. Essentially she is leaving it up to luck to find a bottle so she can revive Senku and let him tell her what to do.
The reason why it could take years (and this is very realistic), is that she has predators/poisonous animals to worry about. Some can climb trees too, which is why she has her hanging house on the tower. She cannot just stay out in the Amazon and constantly search. She still has to gather food and maintain the structural stability of the hanging house. On top of her full time job of survival, she has to try to systematically expand her search area.
Maybe the manga team has her just get lucky and find Chelsea and Luna, but for how far off they are...this seems unlikely. Chelsea and Luna had what looks like a 4+ hour hike to overlook Fort Medusa. Suika is smaller and slower (rolling along means she is not thoroughly searching). Because the manga team keeps track of seemingly every single detail, they have to have a thorough plan on what they want. There could definitely be a fast option, but Suika is going to have to stop and analyze (which she did not really do in this chapter). Yes, she stopped and analyzed to the extent of building/getting the essentials, but that is stuff she grew up doing. She has definitely learned and developed, so hopefully she can rationalize that Chelsea and Luna are the ones with the revival fluid and that they are the farthest away.
As for the animals, MM mentioned the main part. It was never "officially" mentioned, but since the genetics, physiology, literally everything is dramatically different from even species to species the direct implication is that the petri-beam was tested and made specifically for humans. The swallow part is probably more a "beneficial side effect" in that why-man could test on swallows vs. having to test on humans more than once and risk getting caught.>
That would be a bit sad, but I'm down for the comedic potential.
For me at least, it is only sad if Suika sees it as sad. I could totally see her driven by this desire of wanting to be of help to everyone, so she enjoys her time alone. I think I'm personally rooting for at least one deviation from the set role and capabilities. Technically, Suika has to break this in order to find Chelsea and Luna quickly, so I get what I want either way. I just have to be realistic (especially since the manga team is seemingly accounting for all variables with the hanging house) that things do not look optimistic. However, Suika is enjoying her time at the end of the chapter, so that makes me happy.>
Technically it works on swallows too, but nothing else. By the way, did they ever revive any swallows? I'd feel bad if the swallows were just left there (revive an ornithologist God Dammit!)
A few were, and probably safe to assume Senku did revive most of the swallows he collected in Japan. We see that he still saves some petrified ones since they are huge combat tactics. However, there should be TONS of petrified swallows in South America. They probably all get revived once all of humanity (in South America) is revived.
