Yup, it's almost scary how perfectly this fits in. I haven't seen anything Alabasta since the absolute crap remake movie (and only crap because it couldn't fit everything in), but I trust my memory that everything matches. The only minor point might be how many guards are surrounding the celebration dinner.
I almost feel like the support cooks were a nod to Shokugeki no Souma, but the bad ending has made me wipe lots of stuff from my mind already. The style of character designs was clearly different and was the normal "style" per that series.
Yeah there's definitely some Soma flavours in there, but I guess that's to be expected since it is the SnS team that are making this series?
The One Piece "Episode Of" movies are really only good if you want a recap of what happened in an arc, rather than actually experiencing the arc itself. It's impossible to get ALL of Alabasta into a 90-minute (ish) film. If you ever have time, I'd really recommend re-reading Alabasta, because it's where you see Oda start to set out a lot of his "patterns" for big arcs.
Yea, initially I thought it was Bochi for some reason until the character designs weren't matching his style. Although part of me really thinks they used minor Souma characters as the support staff.
Maybe the remake movies are better than I'm giving them credit for since I only saw them upon release and the original content was still fresh in all of the hardcore fan's minds.
I'm almost 50 notifications behind...so catching up on those probably takes priority. I definitely do recall patterns and basics of Oda's style being laid out in Alabasta. The way Oda presents all of the climax fights comes to mind right off the bat. >
Sanji impressing kitchen staff left and right! The same thing happened back when the crew accidentally landed in the middle of a marine base, I think... It was around episode 100?
Anyway, enjoyed seeing Sanji in action. The elation the kitchen staff felt when Luffy finally announced that he was full!!!! xD too bad Sanji only made the dessert for Vivy
The G8 filler arc? Wait...that's too late by the episode estimate.
Personally, I think the time for only one dessert was meant to highlight Vivi. Nami continues on the journey so she can get as many desserts as she wants. She is the exception in the series that the crew members at the time considers Vivi as a crew nakama (Luffy likes to invite people but everyone else is very picky on someone new).
