However, Big Mom and Marco have clearly never fought before, since she seems surprised that Marco’s Phoenix flames can overpower Prometheus. Speaking of which, the Phoenix fruit is DEFINITELY my favourite ability in the series. Incredibly versatile and it looks cool to boot.
There is zero damage implication by the raw...sorry. Gotta be realistic and I can translate the word for word raw if needed. It 100% implies it has something "unique" about it per Marco's response.>
The Sulong forms are cool, but you cannot convince me the women are anything but furry fetish art at this point. And that’s really disappointing.
100% agree. Robin too. I will defend Oda to a certain extent in that he is slowly expanding his weakness in drawing (he states early on and frequently that he cannot draw variations in women). Black Maria is an example of Oda being able to at least start the gap between differences in stereotypical One Piece women and the eccentric females (there's an ongoing gag in the SBS on the Mugiwara crew members at 40 and 60 years old "if something goes bad" that reflects the eccentric character design "theme").
It isn't like Oda can hide his known flaw and just include a story without females (replace them with the animals he loves to draw). If he was making zero progress and not making an effort to change, I'd be 100% on board too. Learning new skills are hard, and Oda is on such a level that he can't go around copying stuff for sources of "inspiration". At his age, it is the cliche of trying to teach an old dog a new trick.
But not before sexy mink girl gets stuck in sticky candy.
I honestly hope not...because this is purely for "fan service". >
Or even better, leave him to Brook. His ability probably won’t work on him since Brook doesn’t have ears ( )
I'm all for hoping this occurs! At least the fruit ability aspect makes it much easier for Brook, so he only has to overcome the difference in physical capabilities. >
And now it’s time to get into the best moments of the chapter - Usopp & Nami vs. Page One and Ulti.
Tama's your "ideal child"? (to quote a One Piece interview title). 100% agree on Usopp and Nami. We haven't had "growth" for the crew members in a while, so extra bits outside of the climax fights are definitely needed.
Carrot and Wanda go Sulong, reminding me how much of a furry I've become!
Just to be sure...we're talking about a lack of hair cutting with the pandemic? Hopefully so MM.>
Who is this mysterious person who recognizes Sanji's family name? He's even referring to Judge by name... Interesting~
Queen. This fits because Queen is doing real life level science (Vegapunk level to a certain extent). It is a different twist from only genetics, which is the focus of both Vegapunk and all of Germa 66. >
NAMI SAID EVEN AS HER LIFE WAS IN DANGER THAT LUFFY WOULD TOTALLY BECIME PIRATE KING! One Piece moments like these are what I love, because they show just how much everyone in the crew values each other (Usopp silently telling Nami to lie because she'll die if she doesn't, Nami not lying because she believes in Luffy that much, so much care~)
TAMA COMING IN AT THE END! I've been missing her...
I gotta be honest that I fully expected her to be her normal self and do the "selfish" decision. So seeing this was just perfect! But man...Tama is naive to a terrible level of fault. She thinks she can just waltz in and not die, but thank goodness she has plot armor to protect her. Plus her courage is exactly what Usopp and Nami need right now anyway. Jeez, this makes me think Oda had this twist planned for a while. Tama's been talking about her willingness to just jump in from the start (thinking she is a legit kunoichi already), so it just fits oh so perfectly. GoldenVenus >
start reading... Marco... OH GOD no... SULONG... oh shiet not again... Nami ''Luffy will never stop until he's king of the pirates'' GOOSEBUPS, CHILLS,... i re-checked my BP... 165/92 ... ONE PIECE IS LITERALLY KILLING ME !!!!! Why you do this to me Oda-san !
also did I read this wrong or... ch 996 is coming out friday 20th !?
AWESOME CHAPTER IN WORST TIMES !!!! way to brighten up cloudy pandemic days GOD-ODA-SAN.
Technically, this is "good exercise" since 165 should be well within safe exercise ranges (I'm hoping no major cardiovascular complications). Of course movement induced is better than emotionally induced, but it is by definition a slight cardio workout.
The 20th has to be a typo. It will release this next week, so the 20th is more the illegal scans release date. Official would be the 22nd. Oh, if it is a double release for a holiday, that usually changes things, but that is more the distribution lines from what I remember.
We have 5 more chapters to the big 1000, so hopefully this is only the start of the mini-climax!>
Am i right? Queen ranked zoro as the 2nd over sanji? 4th jinbei?
I'm going to assume Oda is having Queen only go off of the "official crew" wanted posters. Because Jinbei has not been seen staying with the crew, the Marines keep Jinbei's wanted poster separate. >
Nami has balls compare to usopp?
Otama's ability surely has a role in this arc.
Yup, unfortunately for Usopp...as for Tama, her ability should not work against full zoans, and especially people with wills as strong as Page One and Ulti. Unless this is only about the guard dog (forgot the nickname Tama gave him). >
>Awesome panel of Wanda and Carrot cutting Perospero's face, everyone enjoyed that.
Ah, I completely forgot Oda adding to this trend of Charlotte kids pissing people off to the point of someone cutting their faces. It only reflects the level of parenting.>
>I'd never expect Tama to turn up to Onigashima, especially with that huge Komachiyo, how did she do that? She could be a great addition to the army with her ability, turn all Gifters against Kaido.
The doggie is definitely hard to hide, so actually...this is a great question. It couldn't have swam all the way there, unless the storm subsided (doesn't look like it has). Per the above, only weak willed Gifters (low level ones) will be susceptible. >
>So where is Big Mom going exactly? To Kaido or inside the dome?
Based on the last panel of her, the entrance to the main hall (basement 1) is open. So people not fleeing out towards Big Mom is a little strange since no one inside knows how far or close Big Mom is. I really hope no one posts that they think Big Mom dies in the plot because she gets infected and is left untreated...>
>So many things happening this chapter, many characters get some spot-light, loved that.
RIGHT?! Oda is getting better and putting in gems and many of them. I think it's more that he chose not to. The anime "pacing" gets better because of this. Oda's manga pacing has only changed a few times and most of it recently. >
She used to annoy me a lot before
I probably feel the same way but for a different reason (her incorrect pettiness when it comes to money). She does correctly keep an allowance for everyone, but most of it is bad.>
I do get what you mean. It does feel a bit frustrating to see Nami and Usopp in the same situation and acting the same way very single time. We're already in Wano and I think it's about time they go through some really good development - both mentally and physically. I do like comedy, but I'd really hate to see Usopp being repeatedly used as comic relief. I'm not sure if Oda really intends to give them some really great development this time around, with Tama here.
I think we already see the physical development since they are both still alive (especially Usopp with Ulti using haki on the last attack => I'm not liking the haoshoku clash being used for all offensive busoushoku since it isn't consistently shown but then again, Oda has already said that he just forgets to draw in the blackening quite a bit of the time). Usopp is a bit more frustrating because we already had the Sogeking tangent and progression. I guess this is my "inpatient" fan moment since plot armor implies they overcome the predicament. Oh, I addressed the "perfect fit" part of Tama above, so I'm really thinking this was meant to be. >
Will Chopper be alright?
He had a hunch about the mechanics already, so that's a huge positive!>
Does Tama have a map of Onigashma? How did she even get there?
Traversing the deadly sea is the main part for sure. Curious if this gets explained (low priority with the mini-climax stuff so hopefully a serious SBS question addresses it).>
I just want Chopper to be awesome again like he was in Thriller Bark.
If it does not happen for the climax fights of Wano Kuni, ALL the One Piece fans throughout the world have a legitimate gripe with Oda. We should all have faith for now for sure though.
