You asked for it!
Okay, so I do this online job that is sorta like checking students' homework. The students are in Japan, homework is their English writing homework. They have certain topics they write on.
One such topic is showing a foreign friend named Sam around in a place of the student's liking. One day, several answers streamed in that more or less had the same plan: the students would take Sam to Harimayabashi in Kochi. Some students wrote that the bridge is very beautiful and Sam would like it. So I thought, "oohh, nice bridge." Then in one answer, I found a plot twist. This student wrote something like this: "I will take Sam to Harimayabashi, telling him that it was a wonderful bridge. Then when he sees that it is actually a small bridge with nothing, he will be very disappointed." I instantly googled and found that it was a nondescript bridge with absolutely no purpose! (you don't need it to cross the canal underneath, there's a better road just next to it). So I finally realized what an evil plan the students had concocted!
This year in February, I went to Kochi in Japan, and I dropped by Harimayabashi and took pictures. Two Japanese women from Yamaguchi were also visiting Kochi, and they got curious about why I was taking pictures of that bridge, if it was a special one or maybe if it had a history. One of them could understand some English, so I told her the story, and they laughed. Then we all took pictures together xD
Whoa. That became long xD
I mean I looked it up and it is a very pretty bridge, I wouldn't mind being taken to see it
