Yeah this happened before too, so I really hope Oda can take his time resting.
If this is in regards to his hospitalization, then it was slightly different where social media wasn't used by WSJ and we only got the announcement through the apology letter from WSJ staff. This happens every so often for unexpected cancellations and I've only seen them use the same letterhead for all of them, despite which series it is for.
I hadn’t heard the wrist/carpal tunnel thing about Oda so I’m thinking that was the other person but I could be wrong. They should all take care of themselves though. :(
Yea, I don't remember Oda ever complaining about wrist pain, but I missed a few years of interviews, so I know I have a void of information (whenever K-F died and prior to my joining of OPF).
All we can do is hope for the best and prepare for the worst. If this is anything either with his heart or digestive system...we're screwed as fans (to be realistic we might need to switch to HxH hiatus where Oda gets regularly scheduled breaks for his health; of course not to the same level of breaks). I won't get into the science-y stuff unless someone requests, but all we can do is hope that it is something minor. The breaks would suck as fans, but it would be the best means of promoting health for Oda. Depending on the severity, this could be the best compromise (and Oda would have to be FORCED into it => this should be undeniable for anyone here).
I do think the letter of apology will be huge. If we get clarification that it is minor/expected to be short term, that is all we can hope for.
To be a selfish fan, a personal issue (family death) at least reflects that Oda is still putting in enough work to manage his stress levels. Of course I would never wish that on Oda, but anything related to his health is terrible news for One Piece.
I send all of my best wishes and hopes for the best to Oda! He sure as hell deserves it for all the years of literary perfection he's already accomplished!
