Voice actors are very admirable people and the more various characters they dub, the harder it is to actually recognize them. This thread is meant to be open and it can practiacally contain anything related to anime voice actors. But no vulgarities please :) What can be even discussed? For example: What is your favourite voice actor? Do you have any specific reason to like him/her? Were you ever surprised, when you found out a character was actually dubbed by the voice you knew from somewhere else? Do you search for animes, because of the particular voice actor? Do you avoid some animes, because of them? I start... I personally enjoy hearing Tomokazu Sugita, his most well known character would be Gintoki Sakata, the protagonist of anime Gintama. I watched some animes, because he was part of them, but if I surprisingly hear him in any anime I watch I am very happy. That was the case of Katakuri Charlotte, antagonist from Big Mama family in anime One Piece as many probably know already :) I somehow recognized him there, but I always check, it is tricky sometimes. To mention when I was surprised the most (and didn't recognize him at all) it was with Tarou, a dog from anime Doukyounin wa Hiza, Tokidoki, Atama no Ue (My Roommate is a Cat). I've always been a huge fan of seiyuu, glad to see a fellow fan too! Favourites: Oh I have quite a lot. At the top is Kamiya Hiroshi of course, then OnoD, Nakamura Yuiichi, Mamoru Miyano, Junichi Suwabe, Irino Miyu, Murase Ayumu, Eguchi Takuya, Kaji Yuki, Kimura Ryohei, and the list goes on and on and on... XD But I guess Kamiya and OnoD are my absolute favorite. Why? - Their voices, obviously. Most seiyuus have such unique, distinguishable voices. You can give them any character and they'd bring them to life in such an amazing way. - I admire their hard work, and the effort they put into working as a seiyuu. I've watched the behind-the-scenes of seiyuus, and the world of voice acting isn't easy. Some have to work really really hard because new generations of seiyuu can always replace them any time. And they really put in such huge effort into perfecting their voice acting. So yeah, it always amazes me. And I'm not only referring to my favorites, I'm talking about every seiyuu. -Their personalities. I like to watch seiyuu shows, or listen to seiyuu radio, and they're all so fun and entertaining! No. Most likely because I've been watching anime for so many years, I can recognize pretty much all the well known seiyuu right away. They all have very distinguishable voices. However, it's harder for me to distinguish female seiyuu voice, because unlike male seiyuu, a lot of them have quite a similar tone, and some often alter their voice when acting. The famous ones are easy to recognize though, like Sawashiro Miyuki, Hana Kana, Park Romi, Satsuki Yukino, Mitsuki Saiga, and some others. > Do you search for animes, because of the particular voice actor? I do. But since I'm very picky when it comes to the plot, I don't watch everything. For example, I love Kamiya a lot, but Saiki Kusuo's plot doesn't really interest me so I didn't watch it lol. > Do you avoid some animes, because of them? You mean like, when you don't like certain seiyuu? Never. I watch for the story. And I pretty much love every seiyuu I've come across haha.

GoldenVenus Ohoh, those first male voice actors are such beasts, voices sensual, characters sexy, handsome, powerfull, well, what more to wish for <3 But I have to say, SO MANY! You surelly have a good ear, to point out such a list of them, but it is true, their voices are quite distinguishable, if one concentrates enough I have very few favourite female voice actors, if I'd be choosing from your list, Romi Park has very interesting voice, original husky one <3 But looking at the list of your female voice actors I realized most actually dub boy characters, it is surprising I knew about some cases, but I'd never have thought it's so common, well, learnt another interesting fact And Satsuki Yukino actually dubs Kagome Higurashi and Maktoto Tachibana, I just discovered whole new universe wahah, was really shocking, I would never be able to identify her voice...

Tomoyo Kurosawa is a legend for all the little noises she can add to her performance in addition to speech. If you watched Houseki no Kuni (Phos) or Hibike Euphonium (Kumiko) you'll know what I mean. Tomoyo's really something. I also have to mention Aya Hirano here and not just for voicing my waifu Haruhi either. I really like her range and singing voice, and every time she catches me off guard in some crazy role like the panda mascot in Gatchaman Crowds or Hana in Yakuza 4. Aya's top tier. And let's not forget about Miyuki Sawashiro. I can only describe her voice as something really unique for a woman, it has power and depth/soul like no other seiyuu. For the male ones I really like Joji Nakata as Kotomine Kirei and Tomokazu Sugita as Kyon. The panda in Gatchaman Crowds by Haruhi, lmao. There was also a friggin' crow in Little Snow Fairy Sugar being voiced by Shinji's dad, what the heck? In terms of just voice, my favorites has always been Tomokazu Sugita as well(after Gintama, his voice was just engraved into my head xD). A few others are Sakurai Takahiro, Jun Fukuyama, and Yuichi Nakamura. Personality wise, my absolute favorites are Hiro Shimono, Kaito Ishikawa, and Eguichi Takuya (though there are so many other favorites xD so I'll just steal GoldenVenus 's list . All of them are amazing.) > Do you have any specific reason to like him/her? When it comes to voices, I find myself liking deeper or very masculine voices. However, the characters they play also influences my interest in them. For example, I didn't really notice(or it didn't stand out) Jun Fukuyama's voices in other anime but when I watched Code Geass, his voice stood out and immediately became a favorite. I only recently started paying attention to voices in anime a few months so I'm still only aware of the most well-known seiyuus. (however Tomokazu Sugita has been on my favorite list for a long time xD) I've also gotten into seiyuu radios just a few weeks ago so that's been very fun in actually getting to know the seiyuus beyond just their voices. I've been watching so much lately that my youtube recommends are full of them. It's awful because when I decide to watch the 2 minute seiyuu radio video during my break time, it turns into an hour(the video titles are just so enthralling : ) Ah now that I write it down, it's weird that I don't have any female seiyuus on my list :\ Well I think Masako Nozawa is pretty amazing Anddddddd Yuriko Yamaguchi (Robin-sama's va) has an iconic voice as well! It was definitely with Katakuri!! I was watching the op episode when he first spoke and I WAS SO SHOCKED. : Also had a little surprise with Saiki Kusuo's va. I wasn't really aware of Kamiya Hiroshi's voice at the time but when I did find out, I had to rewatch the anime to make sure. > Do you search for animes, because of the particular voice actor? I usually don't check who voices the anime beforehand because I like to guess who does the voice while watching it but there definitely are times when I get influenced to watch an anime just because of the voice actor. Like, the other day my friend showed me a clip of FRIENDS dubbed in Japan and I was like, "oh, this version might actually be watchable!" What is your favourite voice actor? Do you have any specific reason to like him/her? I love so many of them it's hard to pin the names right now. But Daisuke Ono, Daisuke Namikawa, Hiroshi Kamiya, Yuki Kaji, Romi Paku, Nobuhiko Okamoto, Uchiyama Kouki, Yoko Soumi Jun Fukuyama are some. Daisuke Ono for Shizuo Heiwajima, Handa Seishuu, Kokkuri-san, the Golem from Somali. Daisuke Namikawa for Oikawa Tooru and (now) Jotarou (forgot his last name...). Hiroshi Kamiya for Levi Ackerman, Izaya, Yato, Saiki Kusuo and so many more. Yuki Kaji mainly for Yukine, and then Eren. Romi Paku mainly for Edward Elric, and then for Hitsugaya (didn't know she voiced him!) Nobuhiko Okamoto for Nishinoya Yuu and Katsuki Bakugo. Uchiyama Kouki for Tsukishima Kei and Shigaraki Tomura. Yoko Soumi is for Olivier Mira Armstrong, that gorgeous woman. And Fukuyama Jun is for Korosensei~ Were you ever surprised, when you found out a character was actually dubbed by the voice you knew from somewhere else? Of course I was surprised!!! I had no idea that Romi Paku had voiced Hitsugaya, or that Kacchan's voice is Noyassan!!! And then I was like "NANIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII" Do you search for animes, because of the particular voice actor? No, that I do not. But I view an anime more positively when I get to know that a voice actor I like is in it. For example, Somali to Mori no Kamisama. The moment I heard Daisuke Ono speaking through the Golem, I was like "ORYAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA" Do you avoid some animes, because of them? Another answer to the question hehe. I was so surprised when I found out the va for Iyami in Osomatsu-san was Kenichi Suzumura It's amazing how people can do such a variety of voices.

negatibuhige ¨ Wahah, glad you like this thread, voice actors are the gems of anime industry <3 So many names and amazing characters! : Probably my most fav from your list would be Hiroshi Kamiya, Romi Paku and Daisuke Ono, I enjoy their voices the most, they have a talent to give animes the right vibe of various feelings... and Romi has such a husky voice, love it (I will always remeber angered tiny Ed from FMA or crazy scientist Henge from SnK XD). You nicely described my thoughts when I realized, who voiced Tarou dogie XD

Oh the seiyuu shows are awesome! I've watched a few (Haikyuu seiyuu performance) listened to a radio show by Eren, Mikasa and Connie. but I don't usually do so because then I keep watching them. Then I have two things weighing on my mind: 1. I could watch more anime in this time and 2. I could get some studying done. So I just watch anime because then I have only one thing weighing on my mind: I could get some studying done :

I watched that Boku no Hero Academia one and dayumm poor Todorocks. I loved how the picture of Kacchan was changed to a lmfao one like Kacchan really is taunting Todo. But they could actually go that way! After all, he's the one with the legendary dialogue, "move it, extras" xD

I had some more NANIIIIIIIIII moments in these past couple of days. 1. Tasuku Hatanaka, the voice actor of Kaminari Denki, sang the opening song of Yuukoku no Moriarty. IT IS AMAZING. HE IS AMAZING. And he also voiced Ikoma of Koutetsujou no Kabaneri what the hell?? 2. Erwin Smith's voice actor is Daisuke Ono. How come I never realized in all these years??? *screaming intensifies*
